Accessibility for the Disabled
Seniors and people with disabilities need to feel safe in their homes. The seemingly simple act of getting into the shower can be a source of great anxiety for someone with trouble balancing and holding themself up. One slip and fall can lead to months of agonizing recovery and expense. Also, quality of life diminishes quickly for a person who can’t get out of the house or even out of one room for hours at a time. This person may become depressed and physically unhealthy.
Granny’s Helper can visit the home to assess the situation, listen to the customer’s concerns, and propose solutions to secure safety and restore independence.
Home Renovation
Granny’s Helper also serves people without disabilities who simply want to make changes to their homes. We can build sunrooms, decks, sidewalks and we can perform bathroom upgrades. We are not Licensed General Contractors, so the state of North Carolina limits us to project sizes of $30,000.
We frequently help customers perform structural and cosmetic repairs needed in order to get the home ready for sale. In addition, we can work through inspector’s reports to help get the home ready for the real estate closing.

Granny’s Helper is happy to do a wide variety of small jobs. This is a very important part of our business because we know that small issues in the home can create larger issues and a lot of anxiety. It may take only a few minutes to adjust a door so the deadbolt will latch, but until it is adjusted, the property and inhabitants are constantly at risk. Similarly, it make take a short time to repair a leaking toilet, but if not repaired soon enough, then floors, walls, ceilings, carpet, etc. can be quickly destroyed.
It is generally difficult for legitimate construction companies to stay in business by spending time on small jobs, but we try to keep our expenses low and our processes efficient so we can continue to serve in this critical area.
